A Witness For Christ

It is without a question that we are called to be witnesses for Christ. A beacon of light that projects His very image at all times. The question is how can we possibly be a witness for Christ when our lives are so filled with troubles and mistakes? Were are mere humans, aren’t we not?

An imperfect being, yes. Only human, no. We are much more than the average human because we have been given the power of the Holy Spirit.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NIV)

In the verse above Jesus told the apostles that when they received the Holy Spirit they would receive power and proclaim His name to the ends of the earth. This power from the Holy Spirit is what makes the difference in our lives. The strength to overcome our troubles and be a witness for Christ if given to us by the Holy Spirit.

In Titus 3:5 we can observe the difference that the Holy Spirit makes in our lives. He washes us and makes us new! By this transformation we are given the ability to shine through whatever circumstance we may be in.

The ultimate witness for Christ is not one just of words, but one who witnesses with his/her lifestyle. Let me leave you with a quote to reflect upon:

“The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” -Brennan Manning
