I Will Not Put You In My Pocket

I will not put You in my pocket

where I keep my loose change

where I keep what’s not important

where I place what I will forget

For You didn’t hide me

Or forget about me

Instead You gave up Your son

To die a humiliating and painful death

You didn’t care about all that I had done

You took me in and weren’t ashamed

So why should I carry my nice expensive purse

and my fancy watch for all to see

but place You in my pocket

As if you weren’t someone of greater worth

Now I refuse to deny You

I will not doubt of Your great love’s power

or ever put You in my pocket

where no one can see

That You are the reason why now I am free

No! You belong in a high place

For all to see

Your beauty, Your love and Your Majesty

So every morning and every day I have breath

‘Till the day I die

‘Till the very end

I will sing You praises and speak Your name

I will walk with You and love You

I will let everyone see You through me

I will place You in my heart

That is where You belong

My God, My King and Master
‘Till the day I die
‘Till the very end
